The Reel Deal

August 1, 2003

Today the limits of my patience were severely tested. Kortney booked the job for the Parenting magazine cover. Of course, I'm nervous for her. The last time she booked a cover for BabyTalk magazine and she was not feeling it that day. She wouldn't take the pictures without me, and they didn't get any good shots and wound up not using her. I was hoping she would be in a good mood for this one. Well, she woke up at the crack of dawn, not a good sign. She was cranky and clingy. She wouldn't let go of my legs as I tried to get dressed and pack some snacks for her ride on the train. Definitely not good. On the train ride itself, she wanted to sit on the floor, smash her face against the window, and try and stand on the arm rail of the chairs. The minute we stepped off of the train and I strapped her into the stroller...she fell asleep. As I learned during the Babies 'R' Us shoot, she needs some down time between waking up and doing a photo shoot. It took me maybe 15 minutes to walk to the studio. When I got there, there were a few other babies there. They hired 8 babies to shoot the cover and will choose the best out of the bunch to actually appear on the cover. I woke Kortney up 10 minutes later. She wanted to snuggle for a minute and then she was cool. She took pictures in two outfits. One was a cashmere sweater pants set. Too adorable! The other girls there, all around Kort's age, were very cute. I know it's going to be a hard job for the magazine to choose that one "perfect" shot. We'll see what happens in November.
